What to Expect on Halfeys

Halfeys works a little differently than the marketplaces you're used to. There's no bidding, no negotiating, and no guessing whether you're getting a fair price. Here's how the buying experience is designed to work and what to know before you buy.

How Pricing Works

Every item on Halfeys is listed at a fixed price — 50% of that item's current lowest retail price.

Here's what that means in practice:

• Halfeys uses a defined set of major retailer sources to establish the retail reference price for each eligible item.
• That reference is based on the lowest tracked retail price we can verify for the item, new, across those sources.
• The used item's listed price on Halfeys is set at half of that verified retail reference price.

This is different from eBay-style browsing in one key way: you're not comparing prices between sellers. There's only one price for a given item on Halfeys, and it moves only when the underlying retail reference changes. You don't need to shop around, wait for a better offer, or worry that another listing of the same item is secretly cheaper.

Prices Can Change — Sometimes Quickly

Because our pricing is tied to tracked retail references, the listed price on any item can shift if the retailers we track change theirs — up or down. A few things to keep in mind:

• If a retailer runs a sale, drops a price, or the item goes out of stock at the lowest-tracked retailer, the Halfeys price may adjust after the retail reference is reviewed or refreshed.
• During beta, some retail reference checks may be reviewed before or after publication, so there can be a lag between a retail price change and our listing reflecting it.
• The price you see at checkout is the price you pay — if you complete your purchase before a price update occurs, that locked-in price stands.
• Occasionally, a retailer may pull an item entirely or stop listing it. When that happens, we default to the most recent verified retail price on file until a new lowest price can be confirmed.

One Item Per Listing (Unless Marked Otherwise)

Each listing on Halfeys represents one specific, individual item — not a stock of interchangeable units. Unless a listing is explicitly marked as having multiple units available, assume:

• You are buying that exact item, not a lookalike or a "similar item may be substituted" situation.
• Once it sells, that listing is gone — there's no automatic restock, because it's someone else's used item, not warehouse inventory.
• If a seller does have multiples of the same item, those will be listed and marked separately so you can tell them apart.

First Come, First Served

Halfeys does not use auctions, waitlists, or “make an offer” negotiating. Instead:

• Every deal is available on a strict first come, first served basis.
• If you see an item you want, buying it promptly is the only way to guarantee it — there's no reserving, holding, or "dibs" system.
• Because prices are fixed and fair by design, popular items at attractive price points can sell quickly. Don't expect a highly desirable item to sit unsold for long.
• If an item sells out from under you before checkout completes, you'll be notified so you can look for other available listings.

Condition Expectations

Every item on Halfeys is required to be in like-new condition at the time of listing. That generally means:

• No visible damage, staining, heavy wear, or missing components.
• Original packaging and accessories included where applicable (specific listings will note if anything is missing).
• Functionally the same as a new item — not a refurbished, repaired, or "for parts" unit.

That said, “like-new” is a used-goods standard, not a factory-sealed one. Minor, undetectable wear consistent with an item having been opened, set up, or briefly used is normal. If you receive an item that does not match its condition description, see the disclaimers below for what to do next.

Things to Consider Before You Buy

• This is resale, not retail. You're purchasing a previously owned item at half its lowest current retail price — not a brand-new item from a manufacturer or retailer. Manufacturer warranties, if any existed, may not transfer to a second owner; check the listing or manufacturer policy if warranty coverage matters to you.

• Retail price tracking has limits. Our system tracks a defined list of major retailers, not every retailer or reseller on the internet. It's possible a lower price exists somewhere outside our tracked list; our 50% calculation is always based on the lowest price among the retailers we actively monitor.

• Listings reflect the seller's description. While every item is required to meet like-new standards, the specific description, photos, and condition notes are provided by the individual seller unless Halfeys explicitly states otherwise. Read listings carefully before purchasing.

• Act quickly on items you want. Because there's no bidding war and no reservation system, hesitating on a fixed, fair price can mean someone else buys it first.

• Shipping and delivery timelines vary by seller. Buyer-paid shipping is the default direction for Halfeys, with local pickup or seller-paid shipping offered only when a listing supports it. Shipping rules and carrier-rate details are still being finalized during beta, so check each listing before buying.

• Verify your email before checkout. You can browse and create an account without extra friction, but checkout requires a verified email so Halfeys can send receipts, tracking updates, refund notices, and support messages to the right place.

Disclaimers

• Pricing accuracy: Retail price data is gathered from our tracked retailer list. While we work to keep this data current, retail prices can change faster than our checks or reviews, and Halfeys is not responsible for temporary discrepancies between a listing's price and a retailer's real-time price.

• No guarantee of lowest possible price: Our 50%-of-retail pricing reflects the lowest price among our tracked retailers only, not a guarantee that it is the lowest price available anywhere online or in stores.

• Condition is seller-reported: Halfeys requires like-new condition for all listings, but condition assessments are provided by the individual seller at the time of listing, not independently inspected by Halfeys prior to sale, unless otherwise stated.

• No reservations or holds: All listings are sold strictly first come, first served. Halfeys cannot hold, reserve, or guarantee availability of any item prior to a completed purchase.

• Limited availability: Because each listing typically represents a single used item, availability is not guaranteed to be ongoing or restocked.

• Buyer responsibility: Buyers are encouraged to review each listing's description, photos, and condition notes carefully prior to purchase, as sales are final except where covered by our return or dispute policy.
